Premier Service - The Investment Journey
This service is our budget Wealth Management Service aimed at clients with pensions and investments totalling in excess of £200,000 or more and is an extension of the Standard Service. In normal circumstances clients are encouraged to invest money solely in accordance with the duration of the investment and their risk profile. However, this does not take into account the fact that asset classes and their associated risk and performance alter according to the prevailing economic conditions. Hence in a strong economy property and shares perform well (as long as they are not purchased at too high a level) and tend to struggle in a deep recession. Similarly Cash is king at times of uncertainty, particularly when interest rates are high and the credit markets/Fixed Interest (Gilts, Index linked Gilts and Corporate Bonds) are favoured when interest rates are low...Gilts in times of great economic uncertainty, Index linked gilts if inflation is threatened and Corporate Bonds when there is less economic uncertainty.
In practice asset allocation (ie determining whether to hold shares, cash, property or fixed interest) is responsible for 93% of investment performance. Whilst many investments may be considered long term, many investment products allow clients to alter the investment
allocation within the products on a regular basis (often without charges and sometimes with no tax consequences).
The Premier Service involves reviews twice yearly, incorporating a full assessment of investments and consideration of asset allocation changes. Any new products purchased following good fund performance will be subject to normal fee or commission agreements but any reallocation of existing funds following financial loss is dealt with on a no fee basis.
In addition to the 6 monthly meetings an investment bulletin is issued on a monthly basis written by Emery (IFA) Limited with Investment recommendations, thus allowing clients to initiate a change in their asset allocation more frequently.
The Premier Service costs, the higher of £1000 per annum paid by direct debit, or 0.5% of the total funds invested - the shortfall will be collected by direct debit or may be funded by excess initial commission. It is envisaged that in many cases fees will be unnecessary, due to existing fund based commission paid by the product providers.
Premier Plus Service
This service is our full Wealth Management service and is an extension of the Premier Service and it differs solely in that it offers quarterly meetings rather than half yearly. This allows even greater control of asset allocation thus enabling more nimble trading in volatile markets. When one considers that equities/shares can move 5% in a week the merits of having the ability to fine tune investments on a frequent basis is obvious. Particularly if those investments are held in vehicles where one can buy and sell with no tax and no charges.
Premier Plus is designed for clients with pensions and investments totalling £500,000 or more.
The charging structure is identical to Premier, albeit that the charge is the higher of £5000 per annum or 1% of the total funds under management.
Important Note: Clients must be aware that whilst Premier and Premier Plus may give you greater control over your investments, there is no guarantee that the investments will outperform as a result.
